News of the Day
President Obama issued an address to the people and government of Iran stating that the United States of America is ready to begin diplomatic relations between the two countries. It is a huge step for a president of the United States to reach out a potentially friendly hand to Iran, a country that has been previously named a part of the axis of evil. Not only did Obama reach out to Iran's leaders and people, which in itself is more than newsworthy, but he did so with eloquence and tact. He released the recorded message to Iranian new agencies at the beginning of the festival of Nowruz, a celebration to mark the beginning of spring, and he showed deep respect and knowledge for Iranian culture through the quoting of Saadi, one of the greatest Persian (Iranian) poets. Quite a quote indeed; "the children of Adam are limbs to each other, having been created of one essence."
